Abstract

The transition toward a green economy has placed pressure on firms to align external market communication with internal organizational practices and consumer sustainability outcomes. Many firms promote environmentally responsible brands, but their claims are vulnerable to greenwashing when they are not supported by employee behavior, transparent evidence, and consumer-oriented value creation. This study aims to develop an integrated conceptual framework explaining how green branding, employee engagement, and consumer sustainability can function as mutually reinforcing pillars of sustainable business strategy. A qualitative conceptual literature review was conducted using recent peer-reviewed publications on green branding, green human resource management, employee green behavior, green marketing, and sustainable consumption, supported by policy documents on green economy and misleading green claims. The analysis was carried out through thematic synthesis, concept mapping, and strategic triangulation across marketing, human resource management, and consumer behavior perspectives. The results show that green branding becomes credible when it is supported by employee engagement in sustainability routines, evidence-based communication, and consumer trust-building mechanisms. Employee engagement acts as an internal driver that transforms sustainability from a promotional message into organizational culture, while consumer sustainability strengthens market legitimacy by connecting ecological values with purchasing decisions, loyalty, and responsible consumption. The study proposes the Green Brand-Employee-Consumer Alignment framework as a sustainable business strategy for firms operating in the green economy. The paper concludes that sustainable competitiveness depends not only on green marketing innovation, but also on the alignment between brand promises, employee practices, and consumer trust.
